Duke Losses Nathan Bain Wins

The number 1 men's college basketball team in the country Duke lost to Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks this past week by a buzzer beating layup by Nathan Bain. Who from the notoriety has raised over $100,000 on his GoFund Me.

Duke loss being a 27.5 point favorite over SF Austin was the biggest upset this year following then number 1 Kentucky's upset loss to Evansville earlier this month. This is the 3rd time this year that a number one has went down. The most ever by the end of November, Nathan Bain's layup after a loose ball was sent his way secured a win over a Duke team who hasn't lost a non conference game at home vs a non ranked opponent in the last 150 games a streak thats spans over 20 years.

In an interview with Nathan Bain via Espn he relived the moment saying when he had secured the ball he glanced at the clock seen it was 3 seconds left and tried to get the ball on the rim and the rest in history. He says "The moment was surreal something you dream about. Well it's a reality today.. The celebration was crazy we talk about these celebrations in the locker rooms at practice."

Bain who came from the Bahamas left for school in the U.S at 16 wanted go home to be with family after Hurricane Dorian devastated the two islands Hurricane Dorian was the strongest hurricane on record to have hit the Bahamas — and one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record. The Sept. 2019 storm caused extensive flooding that damaged homes and infrastructure on the northwest islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama, as well as widespread power outages. Nathan really badly wanted to go help, but his father told him to stay the course everything happens for a reason. A GoFund me was set up to give aide to his family and after the game it received a tremendous boost. Since the end of the game, the 2-month-old GoFundMe page set up to help Bain's family rebuild from Hurricane Dorian damage had raised more than $117,000 as of 9 a.m. Thursday. It's a massive increase from the roughly $2,000 it had raised before Tuesday night's upset win became the talk of the sports world.

The legendary Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski in a post game conference congratulated the Lumberjacks in their win stating "They we'’re better tougher played with great poise and we helped them. With 64 points in the paint we don't even give up 64 points a game. Then going 11-24 from foul Line in second half you can't win like that. He noted that the last play of the game was symbolic of eight or nine plays that happened throughout the game. We didn’t respond well, they thought they were going to win instead of ready to be in a fight. SF Austin was well prepared and coached they are old. Very difficult if we would've won we wouldn't have deserved it.“ If you want to support his GoFund Me click here https://t.co/ZYweIIlokr?amp=1
