Akron,Ohio - Akron's football legend Antoine Winfield Sr. who is a former NFL cornerback that played 14 years in the National Football League.Winfield Sr. played high school football at Garfield in Akron, Ohio, and college football for thee Ohio State University earning consensus All-American honors and winning the Jim Thorpe Award has left a legacy for the football world.


Antoine Winfield Sr. who ended his NFL career with 972 Tackles 7.5 sacks 14 forced fumbles & 27 interceptions. Playing 9 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and 5 with the Buffalo Bills. Unknown to some but for the world to soon know his son Antoine Winfield Jr. is ready to fulfill the footsteps left before him.


As of this past week after missing 2 seasons with back to back season ending injuries Antoine Winfield Jr a 21 year old 5'10 205 pound defensive back playing for the number 18 team in the country the Minnesota Gophers who recently fell 10 spots from number 8 this past week with a loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. Earned a major conference honor as the first Gophers player to win the Big Ten Conference’s Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year award.


Winfield, also an All-Big Ten first-team selection from the coaches and media, led the team with 83 tackles and seven interceptions, adding three sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass breakup. He said on BTN that he was “super excited” for the recognition and also commented on his impending decision on the NFL draft.
